Labor Pools
MAP currently operates eight (8) labor pools across Massachusetts as well as one in southern New Hampshire. Each labor pool in Massachusetts is comprised of one county, with the exception of the labor pool in western Massachusetts which contains Berkshire, Franklin, Hampshire and Hampden counties.

There are approximately 20 trades included in each labor pool. Each MAP candidate selects a first and second trade of concentration. A candidate with a driver's license and transportation can participate in more than one labor pool. Involvement in multiple labor pools exposes candidates to more potential employers.

Candidates without the basic requirements of a driver's license, transportation or an OSHA 10 card are placed in a labor pool(s) on a secondary level. They are given the opportunity to satisfy the basic requirements over a two-year period. If they do so, they are moved into the primary group and closer to potential work opportunities. It is not impossible, but without meeting the basic requirements the opportunities for employment are slim.
